Peak Season Bookings

Peak Season Bookings
Peak season Bookings opened this morning and as anticipated there was very high demand.

If you were unable to secure a site please keep an eye on our booking site. Several people managed to book more than two sites and these extra bookings will be cancelled, thereby freeing these sites for others to book. So a very small number of sites may be available now, or will become available again over the next 24 hours.
Thankyou for your understanding, sincerely the  WFRCoM.

Peak Season Booking Open this Saturday

Bookings for the Summer peak and Melbourne cup weekend will be available to book online from:

9am on Saturday July 3rd 2021

Applicable dates are as follows:

  • Melbourne Cup long weekend.  Oct 29 – Nov 2nd (4 night minimum).
  • Summer Peak -December 26th  Boxing Day – January 31, including Australia Day long weekend.

As there will be high demand for these bookings there are a couple of points so to consider:

While it is possible to secure a maximum of two sites in one booking session, given the high demand it is unlikely that you will be successful in securing two sites this way. It is recommended that you secure a single site as a first step  and return to the system to see if a second site is available using a separate booking.

Sites are numbered 1 through 132.

Sites 34 & 37 are our two bungalows.

  • BUNGALOWS  During the summer peak period our two Bungalows can only be booked in 7 night blocks from Sunday to Sunday.

100% booking capacity will be available from September 1 onwards, unless overridden by future Covid 19 restrictions.

Please review our Booking FAQ to see more information and to download a detailed guide on how to book.

Walkerville South Walking Track OPEN

Repairs and Maintenance have been carried out leading to the re-opening of the Walking Track network at Walkerville South.
There are lovely views to Bird Rock and across Waratah bay.
These tracks provides pedestrian access from the main (1st) beach  to 2nd, 3rd and 5th beaches.    They are particularly useful at high tide when the water comes in preventing access by walking along the beaches.

WFRCoM May meeting summary

The Walkerville Foreshore Committee of Management met on Thursday May the 20th.

At May’s meeting, the committee made the following decisions:

  • BOOKING CAPACITY: The committee approved increasing booking of the camping reserve from 60% to 100% capacity from 3rd July, the day bookings open for the peak season.
  •  FEE INCREASES: The committee approved a 2.5% increase in camping fees, rounded to the nearest dollar, effective from 1st July 2021. This is roughly in line with CPI over the two years since the last fee increase.
  • CAMPING RESERVE OVER WINTER: It was decided to leave a small section of the reserve open through the winter. Approximately 20 sites and toilet block one will remain open for July & August.

There were also updates on the following:

  • WALKERVILLE SOUTH WALKING TRACKS: Work on repairing several tracks started in early May and is ongoing.
  • NEW RANGERS: Sandi and Gavin have fitted in easily and will be working on various maintenance tasks in the winter months

Sincerely,  WFRCoM

From 11:59pm tonight the Walkerville Foreshore Camping Reserve will be closing for seven days until 11:59pm on 3 June. Bookings for planned arrivals during this period will be cancelled and refunds will be offered.

Below is an excerpt from the Acting Premiers Statement of 27 May covering areas pertinent to the camping reserve.

Victoria will move to circuit breaker restrictions from 11:59pm tonight. These settings will remain in place until 11:59pm on 3 June – but if we can end that sooner, we will….

from 11:59pm tonight, there will be five reasons to leave home:

Food and supplies. Authorised work. Care and caregiving. Exercise, for up to two hours and with one other person. And getting vaccinated.

Exercise and shopping will be limited to five kilometres from home. If there’s no shops in your 5km radius, you can travel to the ones closest to you. Shopping is also limited to one person per day, per household.

Face masks will also need to be worn inside and outdoors – everywhere except your own home.

Private and public gatherings will not be permitted, although visiting your intimate partner continues to be okay. Single person bubbles will also be allowed.

Hotels and accommodation can only stay open to support guests already staying onsite. No new bookings can be made – unless it’s for one a permitted purpose, like authorised work.

Thankyou for your understanding, sincerely the  WFRCoM.
