Looking for things to do on your visit to the Walkerville Foreshore Camping Reserve? There are stunning views, heritage listed structures and buildings, local towns, woodlands and wildlife to be seen and explored. 

Walk to the Look-out point:

Walk to stunning views, starting at site 44,  about 1.2 km, 40 min one way.     Remember to take your camera.

Walk to the historical Lime kilns and heritage listed cemetery:

Drive/walk 1.5km towards south.  At low tide walk on the beach (800m) towards the kilns, or take the bush-track, starting just after the boat ramp.  (Strictly no driving on the beach allowed, only for launching boats). You are now in the Cape Liptrap Coastal Park.  Whilst there visit the Cape Liptrap Lighthouse

Walk to Waratah Bay on the beach:

heading North direction, 1hr one way, and see where bush meets the coast.  Strictly no dogs allowed here, as there are breeding programs taking place.

Have a swim:

at North side, entrance behind playground or swim at protected South side (at the Lime kilns). (NO VEHICLES ALLOWED ON BEACH)

The Cape Liptrap lighthouse:

it’s on an isolated point in the Cape Liptrap Coastal Reserve and can be reached via Walkerville.  Turn into South Walkerville Road then right into the Cape Liptrap Road.

Drive to Waratah Bay and Sandy Point and explore beautiful beaches.


Fish Creek:

21km drive.  Visit the Gecko Gallery, Ride the Wild Goat, Alison Lester’s shop and gallery and Celia Rosser Gallery.   Have coffee at The Paddock or Geckos.  Have a meal at Fish Creek Pub or KO Bar-and-Grill.  There is also a hardware store, general store, post office. Petrol and Diesel servo.

Tarwin Lower:

22km drive, towards Venus Bay.  Find there an IGA, the local pub and a Mitre 10. Petrol, Diesel and Gas service station.

Bald Hills Wetlands Bird Life Reserve:

5km east of Tarwin.  The Wetland Walk is 750m in length, about 15 minutes one way.  The walking track from the car park takes you through open woodlands and Paperbark to a large shallow wetland.  From the bird hide you will be rewarded with the sight of a variety of bird life.  NB:  The drive from the main road to the Bald Hills wetland is approximately 5km.  It is a lovely reserve but can at certain times of the year be popular with snakes.
